Oliver Hoare

Oliver Hoare is Managing Director of Dysart Solutions, a strategy consultancy specialising in national and cyber security.  Prior to establishing Dysart in 2012, Oliver was the Head of cyber security and Information Assurance for the London 2012 Olympic an Paralympic games. Oliver advised ministers on a range of technology and security matters, and during ‘games operations' was the Olympic cyber lead in UK's crisis management operations within the Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms known as ‘COBR'

The range of defensive and offensive cyber security tools now available make it inevitable that information security professionals will be asked to knowingly or unknowingly break the law.  How should we respond and how does this fit with the ethical pledges our professional qualifications demand?

John Elliott is an information security profesisonal and a director of the Open Rights Group, a civil society organisation that exists to preserve and promote rights in the digital age.
