We are pleased to announce that we have become members of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). The IWF is the UK internet Hotline for anyone to report their exposure to online child sexual abuse imagery hosted anywhere in the world, non-photographic child sexual abuse images and criminally obscene adult content hosted in the UK. Members also include many large organisations such as Three, Blackberry, BBC and Amazon to name a few.

Through the online reporting system, the IWF helps the online industry combat abuse of its services through a ‘notice and takedown’ initiative by alerting them to criminal content within IWF’s remit on their systems and enabling the police to investigate those responsible. This self-regulatory partnership approach is widely recognised as a model of good practice in combating the abuse of technology for the dissemination of criminal online content.

The IWF work to minimize the availability of online sexual abuse content globally. Specifically focusing on:

  • Child sexual abuse content hosted anywhere in the world
  • Criminally obscene adult content hosted in the UK
  • Non-photographic child sexual abuse images hosted in the UK
  • The majority of our work focuses on the removal of child sexual abuse images and videos

The IWF also work internationally to make the internet a safer place. Helping victims of child sexual abuse worldwide by identifying and removing online images and videos of their abuse.

Each week, they assess and remove more than 1,000 webpages, which could be hosted anywhere in the world. Each webpage may contain thousands of images.

They know that every time an image or video of child sexual abuse is viewed, the victim suffers repeat victimisation.
